Onenote For Mac Search Fail: How to Rebuild the Search Index and Recreate the Cache[^1^]

The most common errors can crash your OneNote crashing or make it unresponsive, either on startup or while in use. It gets worse when OneNote gets drunk and decides to start acting up; it fails to sync; it shows you that you're not connected to the internet; it doesn't allow you to search for your files; so many issues.

Onenote For Mac Search Fail

If you are getting an error similar to Access Denied while trying to install macros you downloaded,it is likely that there is a firewall or antivirus like program blocking an outbound network connectionto Onetastic website. As part of installation, Onetastic connects to the website to get the macrocontents and if this is blocked it will fail to install the macro.

After about 20 more minutes of futile searching, Jose said that he needed to get me to another team that could help me. Jose suggested the OneDrive team. Jose aid that they not only administered OneDrive, but also could help with OneNote.

Patrick either did not bother to read the original post and follow-up comments or he failed to understand them. His comments were not correct on the availability of backups by OneNote for Windows 10. Leading people to believe that anything other than the Windows desktop versions of OneNote (OneNote 2016, OneNote 2013, OneNote 2010, OneNote 2007, and OneNote 2003) create backups of their notes is reckless and could lead those people to suffer the same fate that I am currently dealing with. That's what I am here to prevent.

I am running 4 different threads in 4 different locations in addition to finding research that even the level 2 OneNote technicians told me that they did not have - no access to the file schema for the *.one and *.bin files....really? So all of this plus the very real possibility of losing 5 years of notes is just stressing me out a little.

My apologies for being a bit testy because Microsoft failed to keep my data safe, failed to tell end users of the no-backup situation with anything other than the Windows desktop versions of OneNote and has so far failed to be able to help me save these notes.

This is the first time I've heard of it here and I simply asked if there were other reports I hadn't heard of. Your response is unprofessional. Looking at the links that you provided, let's break this down.First link: 3 total people having an issue from over a year ago, 32 total comments.Second link: 2 total people having issues, 2 total replies, 1 link to a Microsoft community post which they also created, which had 1 total reply. For your google search result, those are all one offs that are over 2 years old. Again, there's no pandemic here of dozens or hundreds people experiencing a major data loss. That's a small handful of people given the size of the OneNote ecosystem, some of which did things like turn off wifi in the middle of their sync. Some using Mac, some using office 2010. If you had a huge dataloss bug worthy of running for the hills, you would have hundreds people chiming into to those reddit threads.Look at the dates in the search results.None of that means that you didn't have a legitimate issue. It is just not a common one.

Let's just write that off as being problem stress and move on then. I have another useless case open with 365 support that's been going on over 2 weeks now where they blocked several of my users for "sending spam". All had the exact same number, in the hundreds. Nothing in their outlook. Nothing in message trace. Nothing in compliance search (there have been legitimate blocks before and they always show up there.) I've had them try and suggest well if they sent it via SMTP it doesn't show up in message trace. It does and I had to demonstrate that for them. They can provide no logs or evidence that any such messages were sent. There were no anomalous logins on their accounts. Regardless, the point I was making is that I see a lot of issues with 365 given that I have thousands of mailboxes. Some of them are immensely frustrating, but I wouldn't recommend throwing out the whole suite to anyone.I consider 365 support less than useless. Every case I have opened with them is just for going through the motions on the off chance they might actually solve a problem. It will take up a few weeks of your time of them re-analyzing the information and getting back to you. At some point you will have come up with your own solution, inform them of it, and they will thank you and close the case. Every time.

That solution won't work for me. I run OneNote on my MacBook pro, and OneNote keeps crashing every 70 seconds.I've searched for those folders /Library/Containers/com.microsoft.onenote.mac and/Library/Group/Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office, and neither one exist on my computer.so what do I do now?

It uses the incredibly accurate ABBYY Finereader PDF For Mac OCR engine to perform OCR scanning of notes so that you can search everything by keyword. It also uses artificial intelligence that learns from the way you file documents to automatically tag them for you and organize your files instantly.

2. Under My Files, open the Documents folder. You should find a list of all your OneNote notebooks. Alternatively, find the notebook you want by searching for it with the search bar at the top of the window.

is there a limit to the number of selected emails that can be sent to onenote at once. I recently selected a large number of emails from an outlook folder and used the send to onenote button. It took some time but appeared to work however when i go to onenote i noticed that about half of those emails only contain the subject, none of the other content shows.
